QA/QC Manager Barrow Island (Western Australia)

Essential tasks & responsibilities:

Responsible for set up and calibration of equipment; performing the prescribed examination and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards and specifications.

Responsible to organize and report the results of NDT, review and endorse inspection reports that they comply with relevant standards.

Responsible to be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the methods and equipment for which qualified.

Responsible to exercise assigned responsibility for on the job training and guidance of trainees and NDT Level II personnel.

Responsible for ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with Quality Manual and Procedures.

Responsible for NATA accreditation and up keep of STS WA system

Site Auditing of personnel

Interface with third parties, clients and other regional Managers on inspection issues.

Keep abreast of new technology, create and update inspection techniques.

Ensure agreed strategies, procedures and plans are implemented and completed.

Utilising your skills, expertise and experience to provide the technical and commercial drive to grow and develop the business within the Pacific Region.

Being flexible to adapt from one role to another when the need arises.

Develop project plans, Methodology and project execution plans and strategies.

Keep abreast of current technical process in the industry by participating in technical groups and review of pertinent technical literature.

Minimising the cost of waste (both in time and materials)

Working to agreed arrangements.

Remaining innovative and open minded in everything we do.

Providing technical expertise in matters related to inspection and NDT NATA representative

Compliance in all company processes, procedures, technical specifications, current industry standards and legislation

Championing quality assurance and control

Interfacing with other regional offices, business areas and Business Support

Technical/business input to proposals

Continuous improvement of personal and technical skills

Maintain professional standards and integrity in all activities. Act ethically and encourage others to do so.

Develop project technical / QA plans and ensuring their implementation.

Preparing project specific procedures.

Identifying relevant quality and technical training needs.

The place of work is Barrow Island on 26/9 rotation, The QA/QC Manager is reporting to the Operations Director Integrity Solutions & Services.

Education and working experience

Degree or diploma in chemical or mechanical engineering is desirable but not essential

Qualifications from the following institutions will be accepted – AINDT / BINDT / CSWIP

Candidate must have a minimum 10 years experience as an NDT Field Technician,

5 years as Technical manager and or QA Manager

Full knowledge of AS 17025 and AS 9001 quality systems and requirements.

Knowledge of AS 17020 would be an advantage.

Candidate must possess minimum Level 3 qualifications in at least 3 of the following disciplines:

Radiographic Testing (RT)

Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)

Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)

Eddy Current Testing (ET)

Phased Array (PA)

Time of Flight Diffraction (ToFD)

Welding Inspection (WI)

Coatings Inspection (CI)

Tank / Vessel Inspection (TI)


The following skills, knowledge & experience are required:

Proven track record within technical service companies

> 5 year QA/QC operations experience within a technical services NDE environment

Must hold Level III – RT, MT & PT

Safety, Customer Focus, Results Driven, Teamwork, Quality Assurance, Problem solving, Communication

Interpersonal, Team working, Achieving targets, Computer applications, Time management.
